Capybara Dash is our iPhone river runner, and the number at the end of a dash is distance. Game Center holds that number so it can sit next to someone else’s. Best distance. A daily record. Race friends for the longest dash — that is the feature we actually ship. We will not invent a global trophy shelf, a season rank, or a rating we do not have.

This page is about the board as a social clock, not about whether a death was fair and not about how to hold the thumb. Those jobs already have homes. Here: what gets submitted, what a friend sees, and why a daily best exists beside an all-time line.

What the board is

Game Center high scores are Apple’s boards, signed in with the Apple ID you already use for games if you use one. The app submits a distance when a run ends well enough to count. Friends who also play can see the longest dash. That is the race. It is not a clan, not a chat, not a spectator sport with emotes.

If Game Center is off, the river still runs. The chill capybara does not require an audience. The board is for the sitting-down evening that wants a number next to another number. A commute can ignore it. A sofa can open it.

We will not pretend there is a board we have not built. No invented country ranking. No fake “#1 runner”. No download figure to make the board feel crowded. If your friend list is three people, the race is three people. That is still a race.

Daily best sits beside all-time

All-time is a monument. It moves rarely, then it sits there and dares you. Daily best resets the pride without erasing the monument. You can have a good Tuesday without beating the ghost of a Saturday in March.

The two clocks are the point of the companion page daily best versus all-time. On this page, only the social half: a friend can beat your day without touching your monument, and that is a kinder message than a single number that never blinks.

Submit the run you actually swam. The board is not a place to negotiate with yourself about a crash you almost avoided. Distance is distance. Air empty is a death, not a footnote.

Race friends, not a trailer

Hold to dive, release to surface, coins on the line, skins in the shop. Friends who learned a different capybara game — a roguelike, a road-crosser, a mini-mode collection — are not on this board unless they downloaded this river. Brand-adjacent animals in the store are other products. The FAQ disambiguates; this page will not hunt their names for traffic.

A useful race is the same verb. Same river grammar. Same understanding that a longer dash is more corridor read, not more taps. If a friend sends a screenshot of a number without the animal in water, they may be on the wrong river.

You do not need to watch them play. You need the number and the knowledge that they also hold and release. The rest is conversation outside the game, which is optional.

When the board should stay closed

On a two-stop commute, opening Game Center is a second app inside the app. The station does not care. Swim, die, pocket. The short-session page is the clock for that mood. The board is for when you have a table or a sofa or a stubborn evening.

After a run that felt cheap, the board is a bad judge. It only knows distance. It does not know that a current shoved you into a rock you had already read. Fairness has its own essay. Do not let a number settle an argument the thumb is still having.

Before you can swim, the board is theatre. A high score on run one is luck plus a gentle opening. Learn duration first. Then let the number mean something.

Ads, purchase, and the score

The game is free with ads. A one-time purchase removes them. Neither path buys distance. Neither path is a leaderboard pass. We will not quote a price here. We will not invent a review average to make the purchase feel like status.

Missions and the lucky wheel can sit near the shop. They are not Game Center. Mixing them in your head turns the board into a chore list. Keep the board boring: longest dash, daily record, friends.

A small etiquette

Do not grind a friend who is clearly on the train. Do not screenshot a tiny lead as a personality. Do not assume a quiet board means a dead game — we publish no player counts. Play the river because the golden-hour pixel art still looks like water. Let the board be a postcard, not a job.

Fourteen skins, seven biomes, coins, a short upgrade tree. The board does not list those. It lists how far the capybara swam. That is the only brag that belongs here, and even that one should be light. A chill runner can still have a number. It should not become a sweaty tap marathon just because a friend is 12 metres ahead.

When you close the app, close on a restart or a number you can live with until tomorrow’s daily best wakes up empty and willing.

What actually gets compared

Distance. Not coins. Not skins equipped. Not how many times you opened the shop. A friend with a louder hat and a shorter dash is still behind. A friend with the default look and a longer dash is still ahead. The board is boring on purpose. Boring boards tell the truth.

If Game Center asks you to sign in, that is Apple’s gate, not a Capybara Dash account. There is no handle we invent on top. No clan tag. No season reset we have not shipped. Daily best resets because the day resets. All-time does not.

A run that dies in the opening is a small number. Submit it or do not; the monument will not notice. The postcard might. That is enough reason to play the opening cleanly even when you are not hunting March.

Friends who do not play this river

Do not paste a number into a group chat as if it were a sport broadcast. The people who hold and release already know where to look. The people who do not will ask whether this is the other capybara game. Point them at the animal in the water, not at a score. The FAQ disambiguates products. This page will not hunt foreign names for a ranking.

If nobody is on the board, the river is still a river. We publish no player counts. A quiet Game Center is not a verdict. It is a small room. Small rooms are allowed.

Hold, release, breathe, die, submit if you want the postcard to have a witness. Skip the board when the train is full. The number will wait. The chill capybara does not clock in.
